PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

F-721™ Premium Fluoropolymer Sealer CONCENTRATE is a unique no-sheen, penetrating sealer for most mineral based surfaces. No other sealer fights stains better! Plus it can be used as either a SOLVENT BASED or WATER BASED sealer. Diluted with water, it is a low odor, low VOC sealer for moderate to very porous surfaces. Diluted with alcohol it penetrates dense stone and previously sealed surfaces. Typical dilution ratio is 7:1 with clean water or alcohol (16 oz of F-721™ making 1 gallon of ready to use sealer). Dilution ratio can be adjusted from 4:1 all the way to 19:1 to adapt to the surface being sealed and the level of protection required. Use denatured alcohol or inexpensive isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

Recommended Surfaces:

  • Marble
  • Granite
  • Travertine
  • Bluestone
  • Limestone
  • Saltillo
  • Brick

Surface Preparation:

Surface must be clean, dry and free of any topical finishes. Test product in an inconspicuous location for absorption and desired results. New grout should dry for 72 hours before application. Surfaces can be sealed after cleaning once all visible water has been removed. Surface temperature should be between 45°F and 85°F.

Mixing Instructions:

SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE

F-721™ must be diluted prior to use with clean water or alcohol. Tap water is normally acceptable but distilled or deionized water can be used if available - tap water is extremely hard. Denatured or 100% Isopropyl Alcohol will provide the fastest drying times. Isopropyl at concentrations of 91% or 70% will provide similar penetration but dry slower. Measure F-721™ and water or alcohol into a clean container and gently stir or shake until well mixed. A mix ratio of 7 parts water or alcohol to 1 part F-721™ will provide the best results for most surfaces. For very porous substrates, the mix ratio can be increased to as high as 4:1 to deposit high levels of polymer for improved, single coat performance, eliminating the need for multiple coats. Very dense surfaces can be effectively treated with lower concentrations, but do not exceed a dilution rate of 15:1. The goal is to penetrate the surface with as much polymer as possible, but any unabsorbed sealer that is wiped off or left to dry will not improve the performance. Test the surface to determine the best balance of cost vs performance desired for your application.

Application of Sealer:

Mask off any surfaces that are not being sealed. Spraying is NOT recommended. Application by paint roller, brush, microfiber cloth or similar technique is preferred. Liberally apply the diluted F-721™ Sealer and allow it to completely penetrate and saturate the surface. Total saturation may take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes depending on the substrate. It is important to keep the sealer wet during this period by continuously rewetting any areas that appear to be drying. Upon complete saturation, remove any excess sealer with a clean, dry terry cloth towel or microfiber mop. Remove any haze with a light mist of clean water and a clean cloth. Heavy residue left to dry more than 30 minutes may require the use of a white scrub pad. Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol will dissolve dried sealer. Use with proper caution. Since F-721™ begins to reject water as soon as it dries, a second coat with water dilution will only deposit more polymer on the surface and is not recommended. Multiple coats, though generally not required, must be done with alcohol diluted F-721™.

Coverage Rates:

Depending on the porosity of the surface being sealed, 75-750 sq. ft. per gallon of diluted sealer.

Dry Time

Water Diluted - With good ventilation and a surface temperature of 72°F and above, the surface can accept light foot traffic in as little as 2-4 hours. Hard cure is achieved in 24 hours. Full properties are rendered in 72 hours and surface can then be wet mopped and cleaned as needed.

Alcohol Diluted - With good ventilation and a surface temperature of 72°F and above, the surface can accept light foot traffic in as little as 30 minutes. Hard cure is achieved in 12 hours. Full properties are rendered in 24 hours and surface can then be wet mopped and cleaned as needed.

Limitations:

Penetrating sealers like F-721™ is sub-surface protection that will not protect against abrasion, nor can it prevent etching from strong caustic or acidic solutions. May slightly change appearance of some surfaces. Always test for desired results.

Cleaning Tools:

Clean with soap and water immediately after use.

Safe Handling:

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Concentrate and alcohol diluted solutions are FLAMMABLE (water diluted solutions are not flammable). May be harmful if swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. May irritate eyes and skin. If sealer gets in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes. Clean from skin with soap and water. Seek medical attention if any irritation or symptoms persist. Store material below 100°F. Do not mix with other chemicals other than clean water. Keep diluted solutions above freezing in clearly labeled containers that includes this precautionary information. Consult MSDS for complete safe handling and disposal information. Consult all related safety information for the safe handling of alcohol from the alcohol supplier.
